Here we are in February of 2020. the “back to normal “people talked about is not happening. The truth is we are not going back to business as it was in February 2020. Pope Francis, in his recent book, Let Us Dream wrote, “The basic rule of a crisis is that you don’t come out of it the same.

If you get through it, you come out better or worse, but never the same.” We are not going back. The Pope further stated this time of rapid change would continue noting, “We are not in an Era of change We are in a Change of Era.”

The world is rapidly changing. Daily news is supply chain shortages and record resignations, inflation, and rising Omicron rates. The Gallup Organization also reported on January 7in a report U.S. Employee Engagement Drops for First Year in a Decade that their most recent poll of worker engagement shows a  drop to a ten-year low. Korn Ferry, an international leadership consulting group, noted in a recent blog, Now It’s the ‘Great Retirement ‘, reported that “Demographics alone don’t account for the more than 3 million people who have retired during the pandemic. And asked, “Can leaders convince boomers to stay on the job?” Many leadership experts describe this period using a term coined by the U.S. Military in 1990 to describe the world as a V.U.C.A. environment. A world marked by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity.
