How to Self-Determine Your Destiny by Gary Eby

Gary EbyNever make 100% of your decision with only 10% of the facts.  What is it you really want in life? Unfortunately, so many people haven’t dreamed in so long they actually don’t even know what they want any longer! Don’t you think it’s time to stir up that dream inside of you?

Your dreams and your destiny are not determined by “CHANCE” but by “CHOICE”! It is your decision!

The life you are living today is in direct correlation to the choices you’ve made in the past. But, sometimes, you are where you are, because you were afraid to make “ANY” decisions or choices at all. You chose to just let the forces of nature roll you along. That kind of cavalier “que cera cera” attitude is not only inexplicable… it’s inexcusable. Isn’t it time you got involved with your own life? Isn’t it time to stop living at the mercy of the clock or other people’s whims and choices for your life? NULL

It’s your life… you live it! This is so simple that most people miss how prolific it really is! I believe that you can have anything in life you want… if you know what you want! It’s your decision! Your choice! Do you remember in Alice in Wonderland… Alice asked the cat, “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” The cat answered, “That depends a great deal on where you want to go.” Alice said, “Oh, I don’t much care.” He answered, “Then it really doesn’t matter which way you go.” Which way do you want your life to go? What do you want? It’s your choice! You are in control! Quit blaming others for your disappointments! Make a quality decision to get up… get serious… and get going! Life goes on! With or without you… life goes on! Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Never let anybody steal your dream or vision! Make a decision! Once I read about a test done at a major university. First, they put a long plastic tube in both nostrils of the test subject. Then they would hold two fragrances under the separated tubes. One of the perfumes was formulated so it would smell bad. It was rank! And, the other perfume was totally awesome! It smelled wonderful! The amazing thing was… the subject could not smell both of them at the same time. She could smell either good or bad. With a little concentration she could switch back and forth. But never, ever, could she smell them both at once. She had to choose!

You can’t divide your mind. You have to have the ability to evaluate the circumstance… and make a decision!

That test is a metaphor for life! Good or bad… they are both always there. It’s your decision! Make a decision! Don’t go through life starving when there is a smörgåsbord of opportunity in front of you. Even if you make the wrong decision… it’s easier to make a course correction then it is to get started! On the missions to the moon… with all their years of planning and preparation… they still made mid-course corrections. But, they had to make the decision to take off first! But how do you process a decision? When making a decision, it’s vitally important to understand all the facts. Never make 100% of your decision with only 10% of the facts. You then need to consider various solutions and objectively evaluate their consequences. Kind of like a best case, worst case scenario. Then make sure that the decision is congruent with your objectives, plans, and mission statement. And lastly, you always must effectively communicate your judgment to your support team In upstate New York, where the roads are long and sometimes a little rough, there’s a sign that says, “Choose your rut carefully; you’ll be in it for the next ten miles.”

Remember… you are the architect of your life. You must be willing and able to make choices.

Your destiny is determined by choice… not by chance!
