People Skills

Welcome to the third of the Big 6 MLM Success Principles, People Skills.

People skills are a component necessary to become competent in your business and it starts with you and how you relate with others around you. People skills will help you in building your relationship with your company and the products that you will be presenting with others. It will give you confidence when you are building your customer base and your team.

.

Connecting with People – Connecting with people is not about trying to close everyone you talk to. Investing your time in relationship building may seem to be a slow way to build your business, but it will prove to be the best way to build a solid foundation for your business. Create your story. Create your story about how your products have helped you. Create your story about how your business has changed yours and your family’s life. Listen to the people you connect with, they will tell you what their needs are, so listen more and talk less. Focus on the person you are speaking with. Put your phone away and give them your undivided attention. Ask open-ended questions based upon what their needs are and listen to the answer and make meaningful responses.

.

Character – Be the best version of yourself.  How you act, everything you do has a lasting effect on your character. It is your reputation. Always make decisions based on the greater good of your situation. Live by your core values.

.

Listen – Listen more and talk less.   Being a good listener is paramount to being able to build a successful team.   (I covered this in connecting with people)

.

What to say – one of our best teachers, Tom “Big Al” Schreiter is a master at what to say to start conversations. Knowing what and how to say it to create rapport, can get people to beg you for more information and even beg you for a presentation!

.

Presenting – There are different ways to present your business.  PowerPoint, video, and in-person presentations, all can work.  Video presentations can be powerful because the person listening can feel comfortable and that they can duplicate what you are doing. Presenting can be different based on the number of people you are presenting to. Become comfortable giving presentations and make sure the person listening can seeing themselves also doing it.
