The reason many women get involved in this industry is life balance meaning: Still make income but be able to spend more time with my family.
That was my biggest reason. I didn’t have my kids for someone else to raise them …period! However, what if you are not a self-motivated person? Working from home to build a business can be lonely. Make sure you do not stay isolated in your home. Get out and meet people, coffee shops, moms groups, kids school functions, church, charities, etc… this will help you feel connected to other people and at the same time expand your contacts for your business. How do you stay motivated? My initial goal was $1000 a month – it would pay for my kids’ activities and most of the groceries. NULL
Define your why – if you grow your business it will _____ (pay my mortgage, car payment, groceries, kids’ activities, pay for a holiday) you fill in the blank.
If you don’t do the activities to make that happen you run the risk of not achieving your goal of staying home with your kids – you may have to go to a regular J.O.B . Make a goal that is just above what you need $ always have a stretch goal. Each time you get there increase it just a little bit more. You will be amazed what you can achieve! Another idea that I have worked with for many years is a Vision Board or Dream Board. As your business grows what else do you want to achieve? Travel, home renos, new furniture, new car, a family experience, perhaps something philanthropic? Take magazine clips, word blips or sayings, put it on poster board and work to achieve your Vision. It feels amazing to stroke them off the board when you have achieved them.
This industry is amazing – you can earn more that you could ever imagine from a regular day to day job helping someone else get rich.
Define your why, make your plan, and work your plan. Everyone has failures but that means you are one step closer to success! Louise Seelig Adrian
